NEW IMAGES OF DEVELOPED SKETCH UP MODEL AND SET OF 2 DIMENSIONAL SECTION DRAWINGS

NEW IMAGES

Top View of Final Design, there is a reason behind the pentagonal cliff edges of the underground studio space and it is purely based on the artist Fiona Hall work on the CASTLES IN THE AIR OF THE CAVE-DWELLERS, 2008. From the research on Fiona Halls methods and materials the shape designed for her studio had been derived from the use of wasp nests and bee hives to which the extruding faces of the cliff sides resemble a form of termite nests.

Added a boat just for aesthetics, and perhaps a way for people to travel to and fro.

Waterfall, you could just picture the sounds that would come from this environment if you close your eyes and image you are there.

CLOSE UP OF STAIRS

IMPERFECT STAIRS: I can remember making these stairs and thinking about it actually being used and build to last in ones memories each time they visit a set of staircases. I envision this to be a fun experience, if you were to move up or down these step and the possibility of falling into the water or a sudden eruption of water sprinkling out randomly from the steps.

Why are they the way they are... Well the user would be presented with a variety of options ,you can either take the side steps if you are in a hurry or if you decide to play with them as you take each step through the center path you may find that it my play with you in leading you to the top or the bottom, hence they are Imperfect in choice because some directions that you take my lead you backward to go forward.

FANTASY STAIRS: A spiral staircase half steel suspended by piercing wires just like Fiona Halls displayed work on CASTLES IN THE AIR OF THE CAVE-DWELLERS, 2008 and half concrete at the bottom wrapped around the toughen glass. Quite the elegant approach to the ambiance of fantasy.

SECTIONS

Original section sketch and a draft idea for the words IMPERFECT and FANTASY

Because of the way I have laid out my design at odd angles the 1 longitudinal section should be suffice, but here's two extra sections if needed.

Section above studio leading down to gallery space

Section below studio and above ground gallery space

TEXTURES: ABOVE - IN BETWEEN - BELOW

ROSALIE GASCOIGNE - Above studio for the word IMPERFECT, using my FLUID texture to imply a sense of unbalance and gloomy sensation. Most parts of this building should seem incomplete at a first glance. If you would look above to the hanging cables it presents the idea that this building is being ripped apart with its reinforced steel work dangling above heads or rotted away ropes just holding itself together.

Gallery space and the use of my texture FLOW. Why FLOW? well basically the word itself is quite neutral and open, ideal for a gallery space and well matched for its purpose.

FIONA HALL - Below studio for the word FANTASY, applying my ORGANIC texture to the ceiling of the studio to emphasize that this is an underground space. To the left of this image you may see a transparent cylindric tube like shaft allowing sunlight and moonlight to penetrate the habitable space below at all times.

I also incorporated a underground lake entrance, suggesting not only can this space be a place for the artist to work but to also propose to the mind that there is some kind of a mystery and journey to be had, an unfolding fantasy.
