FIONA HALL -
CASTLES IN THE AIR OF THE CAVE-DWELLERS, 2008

In this particular artwork Fiona Hall has used a variety of different organic materials along with the use of polymer resin a high performance plastic to produce the larger human brain-like molding. The work arrangement is in actual fact a combination of 12 individual art pieces made from ants, bees, mud wasp nest, paper wasp nest and termite nest attached to the human brain which has been carved and cast in resin. The artwork is displayed within a glass cabinet with black metal framing suspended by piercing wires.

I guess it is quite easy to apply the use of plastic and wires to my second Sketch Up model and perhaps incorporating those materials to the stairs for my below ground artist studio.

ROSALIE GASCOIGNE
- UNTITLED (25 SCALLOP SHELLS), 1984

In this untitled artwork one may say it is quite straight forward in its materials and production method. Artwork dimensions 55 × 56.5 × 7cm including the flat timber panels under the 25 similar but different scallop shells. Each Shell displaying a multitude of contrasting characteristics that may be helpful in the design process for my above studio.
